Soapnut

from £12.00
Amount:

Soapnuts (from Sapindus mukorossi, also known as reetha) are not a coloring agent or fabric dye, but rather a natural, saponin-rich cleanser used to scour and wash fibers before or after the natural dying process.

The nut is harvested and dried in the sun, then ground into a powder.

Scouring (Pre-Wash): Raw or unwashed natural fibers like wool, silk, cotton, or linen contain natural oils, dirt, and sizing that block dye absorption.

When using soapnut powder as a natural surfactant for scouring, the ideal amount is 8% - 10% WOF for cellulose fibers (cotton/linnen) and 5%- 8% WOF for protein fibers (wool/silk)
